The Citizens won their fourth consecutive Premier League title on the final day of last season, finishing two points clear of second-placed Arsenal. The Premier League title cemented Pep Guardiola as one of the greatest managers in the history of the English top flight, but there are now doubts over his continued stay at Man City.
The Catalan strategist has only 1 year left on his contract with the Etihad team and there are rumors that he will leave to find a new challenge after 12 months, specifically the English Football Association is looking to bring him in to replace Gareth Southgate .
Questions over Pep’s future have led to the possibility that a number of players could leave Manchester this summer, including Kevin de Bruyne, Alvarez, Ederson, Jack Grealish and several others.
Alvarez not entirely happy at Man City
Recently, sources in Spain said that Barcelona president Joan Laporta is planning to “retire Robert Lewandowski early” by making a “blockbuster deal” with Man City striker Alvarez.
Laporta is a big fan of the Argentina international and is confident of bringing him to Barcelona next summer. The Catalan giants also believe it is time to start looking for a replacement for Lewandowski. Alvarez would be the “preferred option” to replace the Polish striker, as the striker is not “completely satisfied” at Man City despite starting 31/38 Premier League games in 2023/24.
The 24-year-old “would be delighted with the opportunity to move to Camp Nou” and the source claims that “his desire to play a leading role at a big club would make it easier for him to accept the change of environment”.
