In the eastern part of Ukraine, soldiers residing in trenches have discovered an unusual source of comfort through the presence of stray felines in their shelters.
There are a few cats that aren’t strays but rather rescued house cats from bombed villages. They contribute to improving the morale and safeguarding the soldiers residing and battling in the vicinity. In the trenches of Volodymyr’s section, approximately 15 cats have made themselves at home with the soldiers.
Volodymyr shared that the cats were left behind, and it was up to them to survive on their own. With compassion, he proceeded to serve them leftover soup. A medical attendant from the military also chimed in, stating that the cats were able to bring a sense of comfort and encouragement to soldiers who were feeling homesick.
According to him, having cats around is like having a natural mood booster that instantly lifts your spirits. All it takes is a simple call, and they come running towards you in a swarm. One of the soldiers even went as far as to express how much he adores his black hunting cat, Chanukah. Meanwhile, another soldier shared how his feline friend, when lying on his stomach asking for pets, has a calming effect that’s almost like a sedative.
Several soldiers who have been serving on the frontline for months have developed close bonds with stray animals and have taken them home to keep them safe from the battle. One military medical attendant, nicknamed Rodon, mentioned that these cats have become a source of comfort for homesick soldiers. He added that they act as an anti-depressant by improving their moods and lifting their spirits.
When you give Rodon a call, he’s got your back and will send a whole pack of helpers your way. The best part? You’ll feel much better in no time! Apart from taking care of soldiers, Rodon also takes care of dogs and gives them remedies from his personal medicine kit. Don’t forget to hit the back to top button!
