Despite being just six months old, Griffon had been surviving on the streets for a long time, until he stumbled upon the naval base and caught the attention of a U.S. Naval Commander. The Commander recognized the danger of Griffon being alone in such a hostile environment and decided to take him under his wing, motivated by the motto of his unit, “Those who arrive alive, leave alive.” Paws of War, a nonprofit organization that provides service dogs to first responders and veterans, shared this heartwarming story on their Facebook page.

Griffon quickly became the talk of the base as everyone expressed a desire to meet him.
